Mavrodaphne grape is grown mainly in the prefectures of Achaia, Ilia and Cephalonia, but also in several other locations mainly in Western Greece. It gives deep colored wines with a complex aromatic character, that becomes even more complex while aging and maturing. Aromas of ripe red fruits are combined with the aromas of spices, tobacco and herbs. The wines that are produced from Mavrodaphne have exuberant flavors, they are high alcoholic with moderate acidity and in addition of their well known sweet version, it is also interesting to meet the dry vinification of the variety.
